 Winter Reddies
The weather wasn’t to pleasant today but the girlfriend (Em) and I decided to go and flick some lures in an area we hadn’t fished before. We arrived at the secluded spot and the sun decided to shine, that was a good start. We found a good section of water and started putting in a few casts. Nothing seemed to be moving. After putting out a few search cast across the pool I decided to try running the spinner a bit deeper. So I let it sink to the bottom then began the retrieve, a sharp hit and run of the reel told me I had hooked a reasonable fish. Turned out to be a nice reddy, about 1.5lb. I had found the depth to work and over the next 4 casts landed 4 more good sized fish. After a lure change and a few more casts I was on again. This time the braid stripped from the spool and I had a fight on my hands. As it got closer I caught a glimpse of the beast and called out for Em to grab the camera. The fish was landed and I had a new PB reddy. We stayed for another hour or so and caught quite a few more, all good size with some pretty large pigs in the mix. The rain blew back in and it was time to call it quits. We kept 3 in total and left the rest to fight another day. So what started out as a dreary Sunday turned into a great afternoon of fishing. Looks like we have found a great new area to explore, as we only fished the first pool we came to. A quick look further up the river yielded more good looking sections of water, but the weather had turned so we left them for next time.
Mick

 Re: Winter Reddies
Good read! Glad to see someone braving the elements, unfortunately were a little bit too close to the south pole down here. Could be good though, if this keeps up may be able to fish out the front door! So long as the water doesnt freeze over.....
