Ive got one of those 32l waeco unplugged fridges - the one with their own battery built in. It last's OK but the key to them lasting is keeping them cold....I put a cordial bottle full of ice in mine and that helps keep them cold without relying on the power. with the bottle of ice in there, the thing barely ticks over

Good idea Budgie will have to give that a try on the really hot days. I am very happy with mine as well.

Being in the battery game I see this a lot, sorry guys engel wins hands down they pull around the 2.5 amp where waecos pull around 4 amps,I know 2 blokes that actuaally went out and bought an engel even though they had a waeco and have been back to thank me for the advice as thier batts got an extra 3 days than the waeco, budgie thats cheating puttin ice block in as that leaves 2 to 4 less stubbies :) but it works, always start your fridge up at home and take it away cold and everything you put in is cold it will save you a day on battery power,as for battery selection minimum is around 100amps and DC only batteries,SLA are not the battery for this application
cheers Dave

Jules I did a heap of research before I brought my Engel and Engel was clear winner followed by the ARB versions.
