ROUND 5 RESULTS CENTRAL VIC LURE CASTERS SUPER SERIES
BRIDGEWATER ON LODDON
Round 5 of the CVLCSS was located at Bridgewater on the Loddon River. We were lucky enough to secure the use of private property and nearly half the field took this opportunity to come along and camp on the Saturday night. Lewie's BBQ was put to good use and some colourful stories were floating around the campfire.
By the time the 7.00am start came around, we had 62 competitors registered, including 4 juniors. Every round we are attracting new faces, the word does seem to be getting about! If the conditions are favourable for the last round, we may see the attendance go over the 80-odd mark. That would be awesome and with the fantastic extra prizes on offer, it could well be worth the trip.
A total of 6 fish were boated for the morning, 2 cod, 2 yellas and 2 redfin. Biggest cod for the day measured in at 54cm and was landed by Tony Schroder of Shepparton on an orange lipless crankbait. He was rewarded with $400 for his effort. Tony also took out first place in the points, receiving another $170 and the large prize board. Second place went to Wayne Rowe with a nice 42cm cod, earning him the runner up prize board and third place was Jaiden Parker. A 43cm golden perch earnt him the inflateable pfd from "JOHNSONS AUTO & MARINE MARYBOROUGH".
Qualifiers for the last round fish-off from this round were the three placegetters, Graham Andrew, Peter Tangey and Des Hodge. This gives us a total of 14 fishos that will have the chance to take home the a Lowrance colour sounder from "BENDIGO MARINE". Please check the website to see if you have qualified.
Dean Hodge from Ballarat still leads the race to win the weekend away with Rod "CODMAC" MacKenzie. All you need to do is land a green machine (cod) over 60cm and this trip could be yours. The first two online registrations were Scott and Cameron Smith. "KINGSTON LURES" once again donated two of his quality brags for these two keen kayak fishos.
The fish stocking raffle saw the biggest donation yet! $249.30 was collected, bringing the total to $902.20. This total includes the $150 kicked in by "MCCULLOCHS HYDRAULICS". At a dollar a ticket, you don't see many raffles with these odds. With 11 prizes being given out this round, all at a value of $30 plus! On top of that we still had our 15 odd lucky draws that didn't cost a thing. We must be aligned with the most generous people in the fishing business, so look after them when you can.
The leader board is still very tight and one day's good fishing could see anyone become the overall series champion. There will be heaps to give away at the last round and you might not have to even catch a fish to get your hands on some of it. At this stage the last round will be on the 4th of June, but the location has not been set. Hope to see you there,
Cheers Jarrod & Mick
