CVLCSS ROUND 1 RESULTS
LAKE EPPALOCK
WOW! What a way to start the third series of the Central Vic Lure Casters Super Series!
The morning temp was very mild and the smell of the egg and bacon rolls being cooked by Sam and his assistants at the Kimbolton kiosk was very appealing. A record registration of exactly 100 competitors were signed up and we have to extend a big thankyou to all that attended as the early morning start went extremely smoothly.
There were lots of new faces and a very pleasing 12 juniors trying their luck. All juniors went away with some goodies, something that will continue throughout the series for every new apprentice. One Dad even reported his son dropping what might have been a cash winning yellowbelly right at the boat.
The next pleasing thing was that there were lots of scores being recorded. In total there were 201 scored, 199 redfin and 2 carp. As each competitor was limited to scoring only 5 redfin, the true number of fish caught was much higher. Some boats reported catches of up to 50 fish. No-one could find the target species yellowbelly, which means there is a jackpot of $700 for round two at Lake Eildon.
Round one winner was Damien Browning on 70 points and second went to Dean Hodge. Both fishermen landed 5 redfin and one carp. The decision was made by countback as Damien had landed the largest fish of the day, with his carp measuring 71cm. Damien received the large sponsors board and $300 and Dean took home the runner-up prize board. A new prize given away this round was for the biggest redfin. This was decided by weigh-in and went to Darren Touhey with a fish of 1.1kg. Darren received a slab of VB donated by the "EPPALOCK KIMBOLTON KIOSK" and a long sleeve fishing shirt from " KINGSTON LURES". Once again we gave away over a dozen lucky prizes for the day, only made possible by our generous sponsors.
The fish stocking fundraiser is on again and we managed to collect $188. For only a dollar a ticket, we gave away 3 "OUTLAW SPINNERBAITS", one self inflating mattress from "HENDERSON'S CANVAS AND FISHING", a rod storage system from "TRELLY'S TACKLWORLD", and a self inflating PFD from "JOHNSON'S AUTO AND MARINE". With such good numbers attending the rounds, we hope that everyone can find a dollar or two for our fishing future.
A big thankyou to Sam at the "EPPALOCK KIMBOLTON KIOSK" for letting us hold the registrations and presentations under his verandah. Special mentions to David Trickey of "TRIKFISH SPINNERBAITS" and Brendan Johnson from "JOHNSON'S AUTO AND MARINE", two of our sponsors who were able to attend. Don't forget round two is only 5 weeks away and the details will be out shortly. Please remember it is our sponsors who make this possible, so look after them when you have a chance,
cheers Jarrod & Mick
