Gçday Guy's
Things have been a bit quiet of late round the forums so i thought I'd just add a bit to Simons thread !
It was asked in an earlier post if the brace running from the transom to the backseat was for a bigger motor ? As Simon said it was specifically for the decking / hatches & transom well ! But having said this , the fact is , that having braced the transom & then completed all the decking Simons boat would now stand a good chance of being able to be rerated for a larger motor because of the increased thrust capacity !! :?: food for thought . At the request of Simon I also refurbished is trailer , because it was a bit of a biatch to load on his own ! He also needed somwhere to put his spare wheel other than in his boat on the new carpet ;)
here she is before with all the wrong rollers on it & the old timber & black rubber bunks

So first off get rid of the old rollers & then remove the black rubber & replace with blue magnalene rollers & strip . Then to make retrieving easier for him when he's on his own I made him some flipper skids & a bow catcher to so he can just drive the boat on
Image
The idea of these is , that if the boats a bit off centre whilst it's being loaded then the keel slides down the skid back onto the roller !
Also to make it easier , particulary if there's a bit of a current or crosswind I made him a bow catcher to help guide the boat to the centre of the roller :?:

This system with the correct rollers & new bunkstrips etc it will now be so much easier to launch & retrieve !!
Image
Then it was onto the spare wheel . Make up a bracket to mount the wheel to the front of the trailer & jobs now done

Great stuff Al. I can attest to the quality of workmanship from Al @ Numurkah Customized Boats. My decks were staring to get crappy so after a quick drive to numurkah to drop the boat off, and collect is a week and a half later. I had new decks and floor put in with the hookless carpet, lights on the floora, in the hatches and under the console. Latches on the decks for locking at night when needed, Al tidied all the wiring up (and it definately needed it), new fuses, changed the charging setup of the batteries (i can now switch from the main battery to the other backup battery if needed, which is a great idea when your in the middle of no-where with a flat battery after a few days trolling).

The good thing about using a professional like Al, is the idea's he comes up with for the fisherman. Little things like placing the front and rear lights on seperate switches, nothing worse than having the front deck lights shining in your eyes whilst fishing/travelling at night. and the lights under the console and in the hatches are brilliant.

Ant the hookless carpet comes into it's own when casting all day, more time fishing and less time removing hooks from carpet, it's definately safer for rods too 8-)

Dont hesitate to give him a call if you thinking of some extra's for your boat

Cheers....Brett

Thats Great to hear Simon , once you've got a system worked out it makes launching & retrieving a breeze !! As i said to you I put it in down the river here with not much water at the time & got it back on in just 2 feet of water so I was pretty confident that you'd get the hang of it 8-) 8-)
cheers AL
ps. give us a call when over at mulwala mate & i'll get across to catch up
