 PPB Reds
Went out on sunday for a session off Carrum. We pulled up in 21m of water and slowed to start sounding the fish. Didn't even get to slow before the sounder lit up, thick with snapper. We tossed out the berley, and the rods were baited up. Ended up bagging out in half an hour, 9 (3 each) over 40cm. So rods in, plastics out. (And the camera) I got a couple, then lost the plastic on a decent fish due to a pulled knot. Tied up another one and ended up with half a dozen around 2kg. Great fun on my new plastic rod and 10lb braid. Around 10am saw us over near Mornington, flicking suid lures across the shallow reefs just off shore. Around 15 calamari found their way to the boat. My first try for calamari was a success, and now i'm in a nasty predicament. Do i buy a bigger boat?? Couple of pics of the plastic caught reds. I didn't take too many pics, the rods were just going off. Attachment: late dec 011.JPG Attachment: late dec 008.JPG Attachment: late dec 012.JPG

 Re: PPB Reds
Nice fish, I'm starting to hear constant reports of good Snapper getting caught.
Was planning on getting out between Christmas and NYE.

 Re: PPB Reds
The bloke that took me out has his ear close to the ground on the snapper. He pretty much guaranteed me a fish, and knew the precise spot to go. Including the weather, cos it was terrible saturday. (and its a long drive from wodonga for shitty weather)
I'm hooked, so to speak. Just bought some more plakkas, and i'll be at my mum's in seymour all xmas/new year. So when old mate gives me the call, (weather and fishing report/location) i'm gonna take my 400 down for a spin, and flick the plakkas around.

 Re: PPB Reds
Be nice to catch up, but........ You need to see it to believe it. Imagine the cars on the Eastlink, then picture the cars as boats, and the freeway as port phillip bay. Its insane how many boats are out there!!

 Re: PPB Reds
No, never saw any fisheries people. I did talk to a few other fisherman, and all seemed to talk of doing the right thing. I don't mind snapper, but there's better fish to eat than snapper, so i'm happy to see em go back. I'm a mad keen hunter and obviously a fisherman, but i'm not real big on keeping fish, even saltwater barra. Prefer to get a pic, and send em on their way.
