TUNA TIME IN PORTLAND
G day fishos,
My name is Phil Daffy; I am owner operator of Game on Charters in Portland. When Adrian Preston asked if I would like to contribute a regular fishing update I jumped at the chance. I hope to keep you updated and in touch with the right people, to make sure you have a great day's fishing.

Southern Blue Fin Tuna & Albacore have showed up nice and early and in good numbers. In the last two weeks, all boats targeting these great fighting game fish have brought in good numbers of both species. Tim Clark Caught a nice Mako on a lure. There is plenty of action out there if you are keen to go out wide!

Yellow tail Kingfish, These tough fighting game fish up to 10-15kg are still being captured regularly by diligent fisherman on the North shore. Pete Johnno has taken 3 Kings on several occasions. Live baits under a balloon seem to getting the best results, with a few being taken on the Troll or drift and stories of bigger fish being lost boat side. Big Plastics are also worth a try.

Snapper 30-38cm are thick on the north shore. They are great fun to fill in the time while waiting for the Kings to start screaming line of your bigger gear. Whiting are also being taken around Light house reef & Black nose. Also outside Lawrence Rocks, great mixed bags of Flatties, Queen Morwong, Nanagie, Snapper, and Gummie Sharks.

As always the best information is local information, So if you are planning a Fishing trip to Portland ring or call in at Portland Bait & Tackle 0355 235213 You can also call me Phil Daffy 0419100324 or log on too www.gameoncharters.com.au
Tight lines
Phil

Awesome Kingi's :)

Spent last Sunday out in port phillip bay, originally we were going to hit the reefs around black rock to chase a few rat kingies about, reports of fish to 12 kg in PPB at the moment after the spell of hot weather. Unfortunately a stiff southerly changed our mind and we headed south for a bit more protection. Still had a great day catching King George whiting up to 42cm on fresh mussel...great eating :)

keep these reports coming, im pretty keen to hit that area once the tuna start to run, its something ive been meaning to do for a while.

cheers
Jules

I would be keen.
I was in Portland yesterday and in the local tackle stores having a look. They have some great pics of great fish, its certainly a place I want to fish one day.
