Re: Our Annual Barra Trip ! Each year gets Better
After 2 days at Cania it was off to Awoonga to tackle the Barra !! We had heard that fishing in both Awoonga & Monduran was extremely tuff with many anglers fishing for a week & going home without a touch so it was always gunna be a challenge . We got there on the saturday & hit the lake after settling in at the lodges . The lake temp was 25 degrees and we put in a very solid arvo's fishin without a touch . Very big fish were showing up on the sounder but we just couldn't get them interested

Next day we spent a huge day on the lake with the same result . before we pulled the pin I recorded a few trolling runs for later that night . Again another big night for donuts ! again they were showing up but not interested . Pauly had been up there a week longer than the rest of us & he and young Marty had dropped a couple in the local rivers so the decision was made to hit the local rivers big time . Well what a great decision that turned out to be !!

Between us we manage to bag 38 Barra !!! for the remainder of the week to have by far the best trip we've had up there !! The sizes were every thing from 45 cm to the longest 1.25 meter . Now I will qualify that my record on barra for the week was very poor & my reputation as a leading member of the FFFC is intact

I only managed to land 1 barra for the week & dropped christ only knows how many

Where as Roger & Deiter managed double figures with 10 each !! For Roger it was all the more special having caught all his on his home made soft plastics Great effort & I would think extremely rewarding . It wasn't all bad for me having a good time on the bass & when we hit the saltwater had a good catch rate on the various reef fish . We also had a couple of great evenings in one of the salty rivers landing about 10 mangrove jacks
