Hey blokes, heading over to Narooma come easter with the family, havent been to the place before so was wondring what the go was fishing wise.

Planning on taking the hobie for a sneak around the inlet and lake and inshore if its any good, should i bother or just book out a charter for a day?

also , what the go with prawning?, how do you get the buggers?

any help appreciated.

cheers

G'day Ray, even some small plastics in about 50 -70 mm fished along the bottom for flatties around the sand flats and along the drop offs in the estuary upstream of the bridge around the oyster leases.

Cheers...Brett

You'll love the place Ray but definately take a boat of some sort or you'll miss out on too much, fair bit of water to cover up there & that's without going outside the bar.
PS. don't get caught in the channel in a kayak on a tide change mate or you'll end up outside the bar or way up the lake somewhere, she fairly rips through there at times.

Not too sure about any reef in there mate but what you will find is that the main lake is bloody deep, from memory if you follow the channel markers into the lake you can see the drop off line in the sandbar as you approach it & it drops from around 9ft to about 60-70 ft from memory, beautiful bit of water & as has been said, you never know what you might hook up to. Last time we were there I actually saw a good flathead sitting on the bottom of the channel just upstream from the bridge in around 4 ft of water, so I turned the boat around & trolled a bibbed minnow type lure back over it & picked it up straight away. 8-)
Probably pure arse I s'pose.
