Post Mulwala Trip
Took a week off work and headed to Mulwala on Saturday the 14th of May, for a bit of cod fishing. Stayed at the ski club on saturday night and had a couple of drinks with Russ (Pussnuts) and Herbie. Got onto the water on Sunday then stayed at Skiland for the rest of the week with Marty and his mate Doggie.

I cant exactly remember which day bought what fish etc... but over the week I got onto some nice cod as did Marty. We also met up with another of Marty's mates, Dave, we all did a day down at Cobram on the Murray River and Marty got his mate onto his first cod on the cast. It was good to see and fish some different water 8-)

Out on the lake one day I also caught up with Deano, and the elusive Hoppiter 8-)

Over all I boated around 40 cod which ranged in size from low 50's upto an 86cm which was caught on the last morning. Landed some other nice cod, a 75 on the cast, 70.5 on the troll, 69cm on the cast, 67cm, 66cm, 64cm, 62cm, 60cm and many under size. All trolled fish we caught on 140mm JD Python's with purple, green frog and black mamba being the lure of choice. The fishing was a bit all over the place, as the week went on you just stayed on the water all day and at some random stage they would come on the chew for 2 or 3 hours then slacken off again

All fish were pretty fat. The lake had been dropping slowly, however, on friday and saturday it stared to drop considerably. Attached are a few pics...

Great report Brett, it's always good to be reading other peoples stories, and success especially being so far away and unable to get up for a fish as often as you would like.

top stuff brett. sounds like ya's had a good week on the water with some good fish caught.

its always good to explore new parts of the river, it fascinates me seeing the changes it makes as it snakes its way
across ever changing country side to the sea.

as for another sunset pic of mulwala i never get tired of looking at them so the more the merrier.

good stuff mate and once again thanx for another great post..

cheers JR...

Brett, Great read. Looks like you had a very productive trip. Good to see a few cod as it has been very quiet over this way
