you jump on the mighty Codseeker forum & click on the "View active topics" button & only 6 topics come up, OK I know it's off season but never before have I seen such a lack of stuff happening on this site, we need to lift our game here guys or risk having a forum like another 1 I frequent that starts with M & the second word starts with M that has about 3 new posts a week. I would hate to see that happen here. :o :?

Post Re: It's a sad day when..................
I hear what you’re saying mate.

It's been a sad year all round fishing wise I feel which has lead to very little participation on forums as many people have simply not been out having a fish or fishless trips leave very little to talk about.

I know I have done less fishing this year then I have done in over ten years.
I only fished for Cod twice all season, one was a half hearted attempt in late Jan when it was to dam hot to fish to seriously and the other time was the Mulwala Classic invitational back in March for 3 days.

I did however fish for Reddies more then I have in the last ten years put together. I fished Lonsdale and Fyans several times, two lakes I had never fished before.

I also spent many weekends duck shooting in duck season, also something I have never done before this year.

Personally I don’t know if it due to been a little burnt out after several years fishing nearly every weekend and putting in a heap of time or if it’s the events of this past Cod season. Dirty water, Fish kills, My Codseeking partner in crime busy with other pursuits, and both of us busy with new more demanding jobs has lead me to try, and also enjoy other activities such as fishing for Reddies, Shooting and even a change of jobs. Or maybe I’m just getting old!

I would be interested to hear how other Cod Seekers season’s and year have gone and if the conditions of the river has changed your fishing habits???

Here’s hoping for a great Yella season and some good cod fishing next season ;)

I'm hearing you Boobs, I think most people would have had a crap year fishing wise compared to other years when it comes to the freshwater. I'm seriously hoping to be able to start contributing more here in the way of reports & pics over the coming months with at least 3 trips planned, the 15th Oct (CVLCSS at Eppalock), 22nd Oct (Shmo/Dohfish) & early Nov. for the Hume Classic. Just haven't been able to get away as much this year & we all know that cod fishing options are not what they were in previous seasons. On a good note, this spring/summer will see a massive amount of local options available that just haven't been there over the last 7-10 years due to the drought, now with so many local lakes full for over a year they should be right to fire this season so at least the reddies will be a good fallback & I'll have the option of just slipping out to a local lake when the urge gets me or the weather gods smile on us & make conditions irresistable for that quick fish after work or spur of the moment weekend fish, something that just hasn't been possible around Ballarat for years. 8-) 8-)

Here's a report for ya:

fished a LMLFC comp yesterday with Brooker & our lads. Caught sweet FA (had our chances   ) but saw 10 billion fish on the sounder. Good news is 2 crews boated a bag of perch & they were in prime condition 8-) Water temp now @ 16 degrees & won't be long before they really start to fire up on lures.

I was thinking the same quanger and your right it is off season and as a few have said the cod fishing for a number of reasons has been extremely hard. It is also "between" seasons, the cod have just finished and the yella's are not far from coming on. I know I will be getting out and chasing some yella's in the next couple of weeks, and will be fishing hard for them over the next few months. In this "between" time we will just have to admire Johnny's new Harley

Cheers...., Brett
