 Re: Interesting
whilst my initial thoughts were you have to be joking! aparently there is a fair bit of doubt as to the truth of these "new/increasing costs & fines" as stated in this article. Have also been unable to locate any official press releases from the govt!

 Re: Interesting
Quote: The cost of obtaining a boating licence is also set to surge from $54.40 to $643, with another $538 to tow a waterskier or kids on a tube.
Quote: The Department of Transport has also called for mandatory training and a practical test for boat-licence applicants.
Dr Napthine said government licence fees would remain unchanged.
However, the department estimates licence applicants face costs of $643 for training and testing, which would be run by registered training providers, not the government.
Anyone wanting a towing or jet ski endorsement would face another $538 in costs.
Boat drivers currently pay $23.80 for a knowledge test and an annual $30.60 renewal fee, and no extra endorsement is required to tow a skier.
They are nothing but a pack of mongrels if this gets through.

 Re: Interesting
The only good thing I can see of this is there would be less people getting their licence to tow a skier or ride a jet ski.

 Re: Interesting
What a load of crap! the govenrment has wasted money in other areas and now try to make up for wasted money.
Pity they didnt worry about their Blackwater Plan and Procedures before it was to late.
I do like the idea of water skiers paying more though. I have said it before and will say it many more times, as fisherman we have to pay fishing licences with some of this money going towards making and reparing boat ramps and boating facilities. Water Skiers pay no fee and would have more impact on lakes. rivers and ramps then fisherman.

 Re: Interesting
Bloody disgraceful were my thoughts when I first read this post. Unfortunately I checked it on the I-Phone before going to bed and was that filthy that I didn't think that I would sleep. Unfortunately for chrisso she had to listen to it all over the next morning. I wasn't an advocate for the original life jacket laws when they originally came in and just see this sort of shit as some sort of natural progression for the 'pollies;' where it end's nobody knows. As a result I wonder when other's are going to sit up and take notice of the nanny state in which we live and the bullshit laws that our elected officials continually try to implement to 'save us from our selves." Is there any thing that we can do, as individual's, to have our opinion's and thought's heard?
