CVLCSS ROUND TWO RESULTS, LAKE EILDON
CVLCSS ROUND 2 RESULTS, LAKE EILDON
We travelled to Lake Eildon for the first time of the series to complete the second round of the CVLCSS, target species Golden Perch. The weather forecast was quite gloomy for the week leading up to the event and with the last shower of rain finishing at around 4.00am on the Sunday, we were not sure what the attendance might be. The pleasant surprise was that 91 keen fishos still took a punt on the weather and were ready to go at 6.45am sharp. Of that 91, 46 were new to the series and 12 were juniors.
The three lucky registration prizes made available by "KINGSTON LURES" were taken home by Tery Gamble of Kyneton, Mick Miller of Wodonga and Dean Hodge of Ballarat. Thet each received a Mikado LCB, which is new to the "KINSTON LURE" range.
Our juniors had a great day out, with more than half of them putting a score on the board. Young Jesse Palmer manged to record a very solid yellowbelly that could keep him in contact with the overall points category for the series. Every junior received a prize pack of goodies which was fantastic! For the kids, we had "GULLY BAITS", some homemade lures from Nigel Fraser of Bendigo and a donation from Dean Hodge of Ballarat, all give items that were earmarked juniors only. The juniors even went home with some of the lucky draw prizes!
The fish scoring was plentiful. Recorded on the scoring sheets were 11 Yellowbelly, 235 Redfin, 7 Carp and 4 trout. The feral catch score was once again capped at five fish, so the actual number of redfin caught would have been much higher. There were also a few reports of some very fat cod landed and returned safely. I think the lake maybe a good option when the cod season opens next month.
And now for the news everyone was wating for, YES, the jackpot for the biggest yelowbelly has been won. David Trickey of Nathalia and one of our sponsors in "TRIKFISH" spinnerbaits, took home with a smile $1330. The cash winning fish measured 62cm and was caught on a purple LCB. Well done David and thankyou for attending both rounds of the current series.
Mick Miller from Wodonga was our overall points winner for round 2, scoring 247 points. His impressive catch list, which included 4 yellowbelly over 50cm, won him the large sponsors board and $280. Second place receiving the smaller of the sponsors boards went to Mark Vasello of Melbourne. His total points for the day equalled 172, with 3 nice yellowbelly recorded. The evinrude PFD donated by "JOHNSONS AUTO & MARINE" for third place went to David Adams of Kyabram.
Another great lot of prizes were given away once again, with 12 lucky entries being drawn, proving you don't have to be amongst the fish at the CVLCSS to take something home. The fish stocking fundraiser added another $242.20, bringing the total to $430.20. The three fantastic prizes available for this were x3 "OULAW SPINNERBAITS", a seven foot rod case from "TRELLYS TACKLEWORLD", valued at nearly $200, and a rubber mesh landing net, retailing for $100. Great value for the $1 donation made for every ticket in the draw.
We hope everyone enjoyed what we thought was a succesful round. Thankyou to those who attended and had faith that the weatherman would get it right for the Sunday. Thanks to "VEOLIA ENVIRONMENTAL" for supplying the BBQ meat and the volunteers who cooked it for us. The last mention of course, goes to all the sponsors who are donating their goods to something which seems to be creating a gathering enjoyed by all that attend.
The next round will be held on the Campaspe River. Saturday, the 4th of February is the date to mark on the calender and we hope to see you there.
Cheers Jarrod & Mick
