 Re: Cod Nests & Eggs
great pics and vids. one disturbing thing is this: say that vid was taken just before opening, and as many do we go out dec1st and start targeting them, he attacks to defend the nest and bang, all's gone. IF hes released, he can still be spooked, or stressed and not return to the nest, and all is lost. fish wont and dont breed to a date. im no MC breeding expert, but im hoping the start of cod opening is further enough away from the heart of their breeding season as to not effect their breeding at all.
on a side note if these monsters truly are a dying race, then why not have a ban on taking any from the water? let the numbers rise, let them breed, let all the ones being taken out of the water and onto the pan grow up to be breeders. will help reduce carp numbers as well. just my 2c

 Re: Cod Nests & Eggs
I don't disagree cod*mad*chris and doubt whether too many Codseeker members would. With regards to the total catch and release, i'm strongly in favour especially since the black water events of recent. As for the season opening I'm not sure when the photos etc were taken but it also adds an insight to the long term beleif that Cod wont bread in impoundments, they obviously lay eggs lets just hope the males can do their bit.
Cheers, Tony
