Post Clyde River
Hi.

Going on a house boat next week for a week, with mates on the Clyde river. Now all of us on the house boat are seasoned Murry Cod fishermen  Will be useing the house boat as a base to depart from in our boats to go fishing from up and down the river.

This is my plan A.

Soft plastics around the oyster leases for brim. Soft plastics on the sand bars one hour before the change of tide and a hour after the change of tide, and some gigging for squid i don't know when.

Dew fish like to have a go at them as i have never tried to catch one before and have no idea how to, or what bait to use.

Gear we will use is as follows.

For the brim a 8lb line with a 6lb leader with soft plastics (Any help on what type and colour will be greatly appreciated)

For the Flathead maby the same or a bit heavier as with the choice of lures and bait ADVICE is needed.

Dew fish a standered Cod rod 60lb 40lb leader ADVICE again on set up needed and bait.

Regards.
Irish. ;)

Hey Irish, I like using squidgy jig heads cause they have a wire to hold on the soft plastic, use hook size 4 - 1 gram, 1.5 gram or 2 gram weights depending on current/tide and depth. Watch your slack line as you bounce them for the strike and time your strike. My favorite soft plastic would have to be the Squidgy wriggler in bloodworm color, 80mm is best all rounder. This is what works at Nelson so hope it helps. If you have very clear water and or timid fish you may need to go down in leader size. Cant really help with Jew fish as I only catch them as by catch when chasing bream. I know fresh is best when it comes to bait though, so if you get some squid look after them till night.
