Post Bretts fitout
Just thought I'd show you guys the job I've not long completed on Bretts boat! Scary part is that it may make you want to have a good look at your own pride & joy. Brett first came to me because of the Ally hatches that Quintrex & Stacer were puttingin their boats a couple of years ago . Although only 2 yrs old the hatches were knackered & sagging so he wanted them replaced !!! . Brett was so impressed with the Hookless carpet he decided to replace all the decking /hatches & floors with new hookless carpet . Here is how it came in & as you can see he's already replaced the centre hatch himself which was longer safe to stand on with some ply & carpet from bunnings !!
Image
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
At first he was only gunna do the hatches/decking but then decided to lift the console & do the whole lot
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
That decision turned out to be a good one because this is what i found on underneath side of the floor  ya couldn't be happy with that !only being a couple of years old
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
Mushies on toast anyone ???
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
Obviously we weren't gunna put them back in so I had to order abit more ply
It aint no bloody use payin twice the money for marine ply if ya not gunna seal it !! I've been using construction ply but it gets 4 coats of sealer back & front
Then it was onto the Ally hatches ! not only warped & sagged but some had also started delaminating
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
All the decking off with just the one piece of flooring left to get out
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
to be cont. cheers AL

Thanks Marty !
the story continued;
After pulling all the decking & floors up I had to strip all the carpet of the old panels to use as templates & as you'll see they dont use very much glue at the factory as most of the carpet came off a bit too easy for my liking
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
From there it was a matter of cutting the pre sealed ply for the new hatches/decking & floor . with the new hookless carpet you've actually got to allow a bigger gap in your panels for the carpet to fold around the edges . This is fairly time consuming because with piano hinges you need to keep fitting them up & taking them off agian to get all ya gaps right . & I'm yet to work on a boat that is built square or symetrical !!
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
once happy with all the timber I them had to seal all the edges of them and stick down the carpet
[img][img][/img][/img]Image
after a day of letting the glue set on the carpet I begin to fit the panels up starting with the floor making sure that the cutouts for the seats all line up perfectly
Image

Image
then start the decks ,the piano hinges are so much more work than the old style hinges
Image
Image
Now it's startin to look good again & even I get excited about the look of it
to be cont .
cheers AL

Post Re: Bretts fitout
continued .
whilst it was in here Brett asked me to tidy up the wiring for the electrics that he had fitted for him & I also fitted a Bep VSR switch for his dual battery set up .
These Bep switches are a must if your running dual batteries esuring you've always got one battery at full charge !
Once I got under the dash & looked at the way some of the wiring was done it was obvious that I was going to have to pull it apart & start again . It was an accident waiting to happen with live wires cut & not properly terminated & earth wires running to the body of the boat which is a big no no when wiring boats
Heres what I had to play with !!
[img][img][/img][/img] Image
Image

A good 8 hours of terminating wires & running all accessories through the correct fuses & it's almost there
Image
Whilst working under there I took the liberty & fitted some under dash & console led lights that Brett had'nt asked for but for their price I thought he'd be happy with them
So here's the dash with the wiring complete & lights fitted
Image
from there it was onto the VSR & dual battery system & tidy up the structure scan wiring & mounting . Heres the standard isolator switch setup
Image
Image

Then VSR fitted & structure scan remounted
Image
Image

Brett had bought & fitted some led decklights previously but only one was wired up . so the last task was to wire all the decklights ,fit some hatch lights & then clean her up ready to go home

Having looked at those photos , I shoulda done the housework first

Post Re: Bretts fitout
It definately came up a treat. I expected it to look good but when I turned up at Numurkah to pick it up I was gob smacked. I didnt really want to hop in it and get any dirt on the carpet. I cant wait for summer to come around for some surface fishing, I reckon the interior lights will come into their own. :D

As I said earlier, I had some ideas of things that I wanted, but Al came up with more again which dont cost any or much extra but it just makes things a lot more workable. He was on the phone giving me updates and asking questions on how I wanted this done or did I want that done. :D

The quality of the fitout by the major manufacturers is a bit ordinary, so if your boats getting a bit tatty, it's alot easier and cheaper to give Al a call. He can also check your trailer out, do wheel bearings, replace rollers, move axles pretty much anything you need. 8-)

Cheers...Brett

Wow Al, that is a beautiful job, but would not expect anything less from you ;) Will certainly down the track look at gettting some things done through you, but it might have too wait a bit at the moment.

Brett I would be gobsmacked to when I went to pick it up. Bit dissapointing though when you have only had the boat a couple of years to find that happening to it. Lucky Al started the new business, it looks like it will last you a bit longer this time.

Will certainly send people your way Al if I hear of anyone needing some work done.

Thanks Nige
I hope to be around for a while & I certainly am passionate about what I do now & take pride in the work that i'm producing . The reactions & kind comments from Simon & Brett are exactly why I started this new venture because I actually love working on boats . My aim is to give people exactly what they want & be proud of what they've got 8-) 8-) It's certainly tough times in any form of business at the moment & I hope I get enough work to stick out these tough times !!! Time will Tell
cheers Mate , AL

Sensational fit out Al. The godsmacked service you provide sounds like a hit :D

Bloody nice lines looking at the carpet work. Top job.
