 Boat Insurance
I think we've been through this before on a post some time ago, but I was just wondering who we all use for our boat insurance. I am currently with Club Marine. I just picked up a brochure about Nautilus Marine. On the brochure some of the features & benefits they mention are:- Old for new on electrical components and motors, Fishing, Ski & Dive equipment up to $2,000 on each unit and total to $15,000, personal effects up to $10,000 among other things.
Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.
Cheers...Brett

 Re: Boat Insurance
Brett, just renewed mine with Club Marine last week, I did give RACV a go at it but they were dearer with a higher excess, 1 thing I did discover last week when going through the process is that equipment like rods, reels & lures are NOT covered either with Racv or Club Marine & I was told I had to take out an extension on my home insurance (which is with AAMI) & insure them as listed portable valuables to get them covered for theft or loss. It cost me about another $70 odd / year for $2,000 worth of cover on these items which is not a lot I know, (reckon I'd have that in lures alone), but at least it's something.

 Re: Boat Insurance
mine costs about $250 a year, but that is with extra cover. my fridge, gear and bow mount are well and truly covered. Im with CGU
And yes - check your policies about your bow mount. Technically its not a fixed part of the boat so it comes under extras!

 Re: Boat Insurance
Pretty sure mine is with CGU..... much cheaper than Club Marine... A lot of guys get scared about getting boat insurance and so go for the Marine companies but they other guys are much cheaper if you know what your doing and make sure everything is covered...

 Re: Boat Insurance
OK fellas Ive got to insure my new 2nd hand purchase, any clues on what to watch out for ? one thing I noted reading the policy from Nautilus Marine was theft cover is excluded unless there is physical evidence of violent and forcible entry into the boat or the loss involves violent and forcible removal of the items from the place of storage. this is for fishing gear, diving equipment, water ski equipment only. Has anyone come across a company that caters for fishing vessels only, no ski, diving, sailing components required as I am sure that would decrease the cost. thanks in advance for any info.
