Post Baitcaster advice
After 4 years of hard use my Curado 100DSV shit itself on the weekend and i'm now in the market for a new baitcaster. I've already got another Curado 200E7 so was thinking of trying out something new. Are there any Codseekers that use the Quantum Smoke and if so how do they go? Also what Daiwa reels should I look into. I'll use the reel for casting SB's, Jackalls and chatterbaits with a 2-4kg rod.

Shrekka.
I have just retired my team daiwa tierra found it never missed a beat. I Reckon they make some pretty good gear at various price ranges, Havent used a quantum but they certainly look the goods and have heard good things about them, Might be the go.
Not much help i know.

I used to use Shimano reels. I have Calcutta 200, 100, 50 and have had Chronachs and a curado for a short time but have been using all Daiwa Reels for the past 5 years and they are awesome.

I have Steez'es and Zillions and they are great. Late last year I got afew old but still new Daiwa Pixy reels which are sensational for smaller lures, vibes, jackalls, etc.

I have twice brought a Daiwa Crazy Cranker Zillion but have sold them off both times to mates who wanted them before I gave them a try. I think I have one now but not sure, will have to check. I know i was going to get one for casting jackalls for Cod but i havent fished for Cod all season.

Everyone I know who has used a Crazy Cranker swears by them, they are a Zillion Reel with a really slow retrive rate which is perfect for slow working jackalls and blades.

Shimano seem to have recently brought out some new reels which seem ok but I cant fault the Daiwa's. I brought my first Steez and Zillion 4 or 5 years ago when they first came out and have used both of them a lot and have never pulled them down to service them and they have never let me down.

As for the Quantum and other simular brands pushed in the US I have never been game to give them a try. Some big name US Pro's use these other brands but I'm sure for the massive $$$'s they are paid I would use them too! Not saying they arn't good reels and there not quality but when I buy Daiwa I know I'm buying a well tested and devaloped reel.

Got to play with a Quantum tour edition for a couple of weeks last season and thought they got abit extra distance on the cast.
