Post Australia Day at Lake Mulwala
A few of us made the trek to Lake Mulwala over the Australia Day weekend. A fairly successful time was had with a total of 16 fish caught between us. There was 9 Murray Cod, 5 trout cod and 2 yellow belly caught. 6 of the Murray Cod caught were above 60cm, with the largest being 65cm. Biggest yellow belly was Mal's 56cm thumper!! Mal, Brad and myself also caught out first ever trout cod. We heard stories about how hard these things strike, and for such a small fish, the strikes are incredibly hard. All fish were caught trolling lures and all were returned safely to the water. We spent time in the lake itself, in the Ovens River at Bundalong and in the Murray below the lake. We also tried casting surface lures, with Mal only receiving one small touch. Boobs also dropped a cracker at the Ski Club Saturday night!

Pretty adventurous weekend in the end, with the fight involving a Carlton footballer that was in the paper happening just in front of us, and seeing the smoke from a ski boat burning to the ground, as well as another one trying to become another one of Mulwala's many submerged obstacles!!!

Some pics below - including the compulsory Mulwala sunset shots!!!
