A bit early yet, I would think the posts will be in tonight and tomorrow as most are still out and coming home I guess. Most reports I've heard is that its been a bit slow. Got one report of a 108cm early out of Lake Mulwala.

Well it is now 5.20pm on Sunday night of one of the biggest weekends of the year for the COD fishing fraternity and I have only just got home from Mulwala, maybe all the boys are still out FISHING on this opening weekend. But I must say 'Hey AL'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I know some of the boys would probably be still driving home from where ever they caught more COD than the crew in Mulwala this weekend Roundy

Re: Any 1 got a cod yet ?
Nothing 4 me, fished 8 hours on Saturday for 1 hit on a spinnerbait at Robinvale, doesn't sound good for the area as a small comp., run by some boys from Stawell, returned 52 yellas from 62 anglers on Saturday(all on bait as far as I know) & unfortunately not 1 cod amongst 'em. (Didn't hear how they went this morning). The water is still too dirty for lures, ( less than 4 inches of visibility) but I woulda thought that number of anglers would have turned up a few cod. Didn't even bother putting the boat back in this morning, just seemed like a waste of time & there were white caps on the river out front of the Euston club so headed off with the idea of trying our luck at Bridgewater on the way home but by the time we got down there it was still blowing like a bastard & I just couldn't get keen enough to get the boat off for what would have been only a couple of hours fishing & then arriving home late so we just kept going. The missus & I had a great weekend but fishing wise by far the worst cod opening I've ever had.

Re: Any 1 got a cod yet ?
I was below yarrawonga about from Wednesday night till this afternoon and conservatively estimate i boated between 70 and 80 fish for the trip. Mostly trout cod, probably 10 cod, 2 Yellas, 1 bream, 3 carp. Sadly i had no legal size cod.
Most of the crew i was with had similar reports. 15 Legal cod for the crew with all but three released.
Myself and the rest of the crew are in utter disbelief about how the river fished - have never seen or heard of anything like it.

Fished Bridgewater Friday afternoon and all day Saturday with 7 yellowbelly 3 redfin and one carp, all tempted by Jackalls from over 3,000 casts. Other than that a good weekend on the water.
