Post $750 what to buy? new camera or new video camera
G'day,

My sister has a $750 voucher for Michaels Camera House in Melbourne but she already purchased a new camera elsewhere and I can get it a little cheaper than what its worth.

I cant decide if I should buy a new Digital HD Video Camera as I dont have my own at the moment and currently just borrow my sisters which does a good job and pretty much always avaliable when I need it.

The other option is a new Digital Camera. I currently have a FujiFine Pix s5700 which is nearly 4 years old but does a great job I think and only cost me $350 back then.

What Camera's are the best value for money around the $700 - $750 mark
I only need it to take pic's while away fishing of my niece and nephew at times. My Fuji is great but the only issue I have with it is its speed. Taking action shots it is just far to slow to capture the moment and by time it processes the subject has been and gone.

I'm heading overseas tomorrow so could look at a duty free camera but figure if I dont buy one from Micahels there are other places even cheaper then duty free from what I have read.

The other option I have is to sell off the voucher if anyone is interested as judging by my recent fishing season I didnt have to work my current camera to hard at all! lol

Any idea's or advise appreciated.

Boobs, i know you can get some pretty good compacts these days, which also have HD video recording at very affordable prices.
For pure image quality with a still camera, you might be able to find a canon EOS 1000D for around that price. That is a pure image machine digital SLR. I dont know if it would be any good for action shots though, but for fishing photos or something similiar, its a great camera.
As for whether to get a photo or video camera, that decision is all yours mate.
